At the Gym, Jing An District

CNNgo recently gave 50 reasons why Shanghai is the number 1 city in the world, and I realized that I had photographic evidence to back up a lot of these points… My favorites may be numbers 13: Ballroom Dancing and 31: Pajama People, which I’ll post about later, but today I will be reviewing reason number 32 why Shanghai is the greatest city in the world: It’s one big gym!

These “gyms” are everywhere, and utilized by Chinese people (and the occasional foreigner) of all ages, shapes, and sizes at all hours of the day. Here’s one I passed by in Jing An the other day:

These women really knew their way around this place it seemed, utilizing every machine in a way that looked surprisingly fun yet effective.
