Designer Spotlight: Coko Wan

Meet Coko Wan, China’s most colorful designer:

She attended the London College of Fashion in 2000, the end result of which was this amazing bag collection that transforms into clothes:

Coko states: “A good bag becomes an intimate extension of clothes. The collection creates the balance between garments and bags by blending them into one piece which is transformable between each other.” Hence the morphing bags 😉

She sometimes dabbles in ready-to-wear (click here to see Coko Wan’s show), but her real forte is accessories. Here is a bag from her Fall/Winter collection:

And here’s one from Spring/Summer:

They are definitely a little more quirky and colorful than the normal (Chinese) person would dare to don, but she’s already got a cult following on the Mainland… People really love her other accessories, such as hats, jewelry, and scarves. Take a gander:

Some of my personal favorites are the clothes though. Here are some separates perfect for summer:

And she offers some warm yet colorful solutions for those dreary Chinese winters (or whatever winter you may be weathering). I also like the influence from the dress of ethnic minorities in China, but the end result is something totally wearable for those with a more colorful outlook on life:
